We recognize the environmental impact that comes with scientific analysis, from sampling materials to lab operations. While circularity in science is challenging due to contamination risks, regulation, and limited policy support, we are committed to making progress where we can.

Sustainable Sampling & Product Design

• Our remote sampling designer helps reduce over-sampling through guided support.
• Clients are encouraged to reuse components wherever possible.
• We aim to use and recommend biodegradable sampling bags wherever possible.
• We partner with labs and suppliers committed to low-impact, responsibly sourced materials.

Digital-first for Resource Efficiency

• Our digital platform reduces the need for paper and physical reporting.
• We minimize shipping through remote support and batch logistics.

In the Lab

• We optimize protocols to reduce reagent use.
• Multi-use labware is adopted wherever contamination risk allows.
• PCR efficiency is maximized through better plate optimization.
• We are working towards getting certified by the Green Lab Initiative, driving sustainable practices in the scientific community.

Energy Management & Climate Responsibility

Our main energy demands stem from lab operations (e.g., DNA sequencing) and cloud-based data infrastructure.

• We operate in Germany, where a growing share of the energy grid is renewable, and we’re actively transitioning to 100% green energy providers.
• Lab workflows are optimized for batch processing and downtime efficiency.
• We choose cloud providers with strong sustainability commitments and are exploring carbon-aware data storage options.
• Energy usage and carbon impact tracking is a key part of our evolving environmental monitoring strategy.
